PT10-Next Gen Rapid Transit Lanes Curbside

Status: Planned

Description

This service package uses the parking spaces allocated for lanes and curb management and provides dedicated bus lanes during peak demand times to enhance transit operations mobility. An intermittent bus lane is a lane that can change its status from regular lane (accessible for all vehicles) to bus lane, for the time strictly necessary for a bus or set of buses to pass. The status of the IBL is communicated to drivers using roadside message signs and through in–vehicle signage. The creation and removal of dedicated bus lanes is managed through coordination between traffic and transit centers.
